Scotch on the Rocks

Assignment: Packaging / Print ads

For the Jamie Fraser vinyl figure, I was asked to create the packaging and a print ad for distributors. Inspired by some fans’ nickname for the pose of the figure, “Scotch on the rocks,” I researched the packaging of a few varieties of scotch whisky to create this box. Using a spot varnish and foil printing, I gave the box a range of effects that made it feel more premium.

To create the print ad, which I wanted to look more crisp than a photo, I created a 3D render of the box. Although I did have a 3D file of the figure itself, the paint job on the real one looked even better, so I composited a photo of the figure into the ad, with reflections showing the 3D figure to get the angles of the reflections just right.
