MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS 3D
Assignment: 3D Renders / Animation
For Super7’s new line of retro Power Rangers action figures, I was asked to create 3D renders showing off each figure from various angles, including animated spins of the largest figure. In addition to some renders provided on white backgrounds, they asked me to create an environment based on a 90’s TV ad to show off the figures.

ANIMATED turnarounds
A lighting challenge
When creating these animated turnarounds, I was challenged to light the figures in a way that not only made them look good from every angle, but also didn’t wash out with the figures’ white boots and arms against the background.
Shown here are three different animations, each with a different lighting setup. As I worked on each figure, I looked for new ways to light the figure without blowing out the whites – as you can see, I tried a darker background, a mid-gray look, and a bright background with a dimmer foreground.
Although the client was more than happy with these animations, I’m continuing to refine this process and provide consistent, well-lit animations.
